Working the Program

Don't drink or use drugs no matter what!

Go to 90 meetings in 90 days

Use the 24 hr. plan. "One day at a time."

Eat or drink something in place of drug of choice.

Make use of the telephone.

Be honest, open-minded, and willing.

Listen.

Get plenty of rest.

Read 12-step literature.  Preferably the "Big Book".

Be wary of drinking/using situations (slippery people, places, things.)

Look for the similarities not differences

Remember the worst part of your drug/alcohol use.

Admit you are POWERLESS over your drug of choice.

Know that you are not alone.

Keep it simple.

Have faith.

Remember that addiction is incurable, progressive, and fatal.

Easy does it.

Avoid major decisions early in sobriety

Your disease is cunning, baffling, and powerful.

Try not to place conditions on your sobriety.

Do first things first (sobriety comes first.)

When all else fails, follow directions.

Do some kind of spiritual practice every morning and night.

Let go and let God.

Work the steps.

Find a sponsor and talk to him/her often.

Seek professional help if needed.

Look at your entire drinking/using record.

Replace old habits with new sober ones.

Salute the daily progress you make.

Get active, take commitments.

Try to turn your life and will over to a Higher Power.

Change old routines.

Let go of old ideas.

Avoid nostalgic sadness, or euphoric recall.

Accept life as it comes.
